Preston Innovations Feeder Team lying second in World Championship.
Preston Innovations Team England are lying second after day one of the World Feeder Championship in South Africa.
The home nation is leading the race, with 15 points - including three individual section winners. England boast no section winners, but are lying second on 16 points, two points clear of third placed Hungary.
Communication with the team is difficult, given the remote location of the venue, Bloemhof Dam which is in a very rural area of the country. Team coach, Glenn Lawrence managed to make contact with Match Fishing and explained: "Believe it or not, we have been very unlucky today, and actually had quite a poor draw. Steve Ringer missed out on winning his section by just 500g, and also lost ten fish in an unseen snag pit.
Adam Wakelin, who also finished second in his section, was very unlucky, as he caught far more fish than everyone else in his section, but they were of a very small stamp in his area.
All in all it has been a great team effort though, and Tommy and I are very proud of the lads. Dropping Grant was a very tough decision for us, as he has fished brilliantly all week, but he has proved a true team player by doing a great job of running the bank today. Given such a good performance today, we are keeping the same team going in to tomorrow."
The event, which is now entering its third year, has yet to see an English team or individual lift a gold medal.
The team that fished today consisted of Tommy Pickering, Mick Vials, Adam Wakelin, Phil and Steve Ringer, with Grant Albutt running the bank.
